Microencapsulation Technology
Microencapsulation technology is a process of enclosing liquid, solid or gaseous active substances with film-forming materials to form micro-particles, with particle sizes typically ranging from the micron to millimeter level. By encapsulating extracts in a protective shell made of natural or synthetic wall materials (such as gelatin, gum arabic, cyclodextrin, etc.), this technology can effectively isolate light, heat, oxygen and moisture, significantly improve the stability of active ingredients and extend the shelf life. Meanwhile, it can mask unpleasant odors, improve taste, and convert liquid extracts into free-flowing solid powders, greatly facilitating storage, transportation and subsequent processing.
Applications
At the application level, microencapsulation expands the application scenarios of herbal extracts. In functional foods and health products, it enables targeted or sustained release of active ingredients to improve bioavailability; in the cosmetics field, it can protect the activity of antioxidant ingredients and enhance product efficacy; in the feed industry, it can prevent natural additives from losing activity during processing.
