    This product is extract from mulberry (Morus indica L.) leaf. Mulberry leaves are thin, glossy, and light green in color. The shape of the leaf can be quite variable even on the same tree. Some leaves have 5 lobes while others have one lobe, two lobes, three lobes, or no lobes at all.

     Mulberry leaves have long been used in Chinese medicine for the prevention and treatment of diabetes; they contain compounds that suppress high blood sugar levels. It is the sole feed for silk worm, possess many medicinal properties. The leaves were reported to possess hypoglycemic, hypotensive antipyretic and antiinflammatory effects. These effects of mulberry leaves have been ascribed to a glycoprotein Moran A, trigonelline bases Moranoline and Morin. Present paper deals with a comparative study on the effect of mulberry leaves with that of a standard drug-glibenclamide on blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin levels and on the activity of certain enzymes in the blood in diabetic rats.
